Tree Surgeon consulted: Greg Laywood, Clear View Tree and Hedge Services Ltd. Recommendation for a cyclical application to undertake cyclical crown reductions (3/5 yearly) on a Holme oak tree located within the rear garden of the property, with the height reduced to 1m below an overhead telephone cable which has been enveloped within the canopy. All as previous application ref: AT/2021/0099/TPO, approved 11th May 2021. The tree also overhangs the access road to North Fields Industrial Estate which is used by multiple companies, serviced by large lorries and delivery trucks. A reduction on the canopy width will bring the canopy within the property boundary whilst maintaining the shape and proportion of the tree. The works are required to prevent damage to the telephone cable, and to prevent damage to the tree and vehicles as the delivery vehicles access/egress the Industrial Estate . T003 ? Mature lime: Pollard to the main crown break, retaining the main stem and permanent primary scaffold framework. Thereafter manage as a cyclical pollard, with re-pollarding anticipated approximately every seven years. The works are requested following a ground-based assessment and subsequent climbing inspection. The aerial inspection identified multiple cavities within load-bearing primary branches supporting substantial upright stems. Three cavities were reported to extend beyond the diameter of the affected branch when investigated using an eight-inch probe. Further cavities and significant historic pruning wounds with associated decay were also recorded. The affected crown is exposed to wind and overhangs St Marychurch Road, the unsheltered Hatfield Cross bus stop and parts of Lynway Court. The tree is in terminal decline and directly threatens both houses and gardens to the south, creating an unacceptable risk. Removal is required to restore a proportionate level of safety. Replacement planting: One replacement tree of the same species will be planted within the garden, providing long-term amenity at an appropriate scale. T5 Pine ? Remove only the lowest-order branches, as shown in the photographs. These are small-diameter, phototropic limbs below the main crown structure. All cuts will comply with BS 3998:2010, with the final cut diameter not exceeding one third of the parent branch or stem.
